baby deer

Hello, does anyone know if there are any baby deer yet? I think this is about the right time for them. Also, would they be at the Deer Sanctuary? I'm looking forward to cycling and hopefully being able to see them!
Thanks.

Hi Fiona
I haven't seen any yet but the Bolderwood Deer Viewing area would be a good place to look for them. The danger is that if you see them in other places of the New Forest the mother may not go back to them if she has seen a human nearby.
We actually had a deer try to attack our big black dog in an effort to keep her fawn safe - it was a bit ironic as we didn't know she even had a fawn nearby and we were all (including the dog) really scared! mums can be fierce!

Hi,
Just thought i'd add to this! I was driving across the forest last wednesday and saw a large herd (i think thats the right term!) crossing the forest near Brooke. There were no babies but some large bellied adult deer so i should imagine you could expect babies very soon! Another great reason to keep the speeds down on the forest as the deer aren't known for their road sense!
