New Forest dog friendly hotels and accommodation.

New Forest dog friendly hotels.

How does my New Forest dog friendly hotels info work?

To make it easier for you the listings will be headlined as

  • On Forest dog friendly hotels - within the cattle grid system where the animals roam freely. You can be out of the door and onto open forest
  • By the coast - coastal town, village which will involve lead walking and/or car
  • Always make sure when staying anywhere with your dog, not just in the New Forest but throughout the UK, that your dog is included and they confirm your dog can stay too. I've had experience of trying to be turned away at reception!

New Forest dog friendly hotels - many "on forest" and inside a cattle grid

Here are some dog friendly hotels I can recommend.

Please feel free to contact me with your experiences of where you've stayed with your dog in the New Forest, if you want to. That way we can share our experiences with other dog owners for their future visits too.

We recently enjoyed a wonderful stay at The Bell Inn at Bramshaw  You can actually combine dog friendly accommodation and a round of golf here. There are 2 golf courses and a pro shop on site. Or invite your much loved dog at your wedding ceremony. They love our 4 legged friends here!

Here's why we loved our dog friendly stay

  • We were greeted by warm, friendly "dog loving" staff at Reception
  • Our room was immaculate with a lovely dog mat, water/food bowl and tasty dog treats laid out on the floor. "Misfits Tangly Twists in chicken/egg flavour" soon disappeared!
  • We were warmly welcomed in all the dog accessible areas. The bar area is large with a beautiful fireplace. There's a lovely china dog treat pot on the bar top with more dog treats for well behaved pooches. These also went down very well with Lottie.
  • We were asked if we wanted to dine in the bar area rather than the dining room (dogs not allowed here) which was thoughtful of the staff
  • We sat enjoying our drinks and the staff went out of their way to make us (and Lottie) feel more than welcome
  • This is a practical New Forest dog friendly hotel with a lovely country feel - many of the downstairs rooms like Reception and the Bar area have stone floors which means they are practical for dogs and walkers to enjoy. Lottie was so happy meeting everyone who made a huge fuss of her that she and her large tail spent ages sweeping areas of the floor very thoroughly!
  • We popped her back in the car when we had dinner just incase she wondered where we were but dogs are allowed to stay in the rooms when you are eating which is a dog friendly bonus I think.
  • One huge bonus I found out while staying was that you can choose to have your wedding here and your dog can attend the ceremony! How dog friendly is that??
  • Direct New Forest access means you can walk for miles just outside the door. When we stayed a herd of cows were mooching past with their little calves - that brought the traffic to a halt!

Dog rooms are limited and on the ground floor with a current charge of £10 per dog for one night or £15 per stay (please check).

The Master Builder's Hotel at Buckler's Hard is a fantastic setting next to the Beaulieu river. Not only can your dog stay here but you can order room service for them too!

New Park Manor Hotel in Brockenhurst welcomes you and your dog with their very own whippet Daisy. There is a standard £10 per night charge for dog stays here and you will be in the heart of the New Forest, with fantastic off road walks and spectacular views of local deer, possibly from your room.

The Balmer Lawn Hotel in Brockenhurst really welcomes you and your dog, which is always reassuring. You can check out specific dog friendly rooms using their "look before you book" facility and see where your room is located. You do have to book in advance and like most of the hotels I recommend there is a nightly "dog charge" of £20 per dog per night. You take your own dog food and bedding, which is a good idea. We don't want any upset tummies due to a diet change when staying in a hotel do we? (Believe me we've been there, done that, and it was very, very embarassing!)

Warning: you may have heard of dogs becoming ill after walking in the New Forest. Visit my dog illness page for my updates.

Hopefully you will find the perfect New Forest hotel break accommodation for you and your dog.

I'll keep adding more and more info and if you have anything you want to share with others please Contact Me and I can pass it on. I hope both you and your dog enjoy your trip to the beautiful New Forest and it is really one you'll always treasure.

Don't forget to Contact me if you find somewhere and want to ask me a question - hopefully I know, or can find out the answer!
