Memory from my late father

(Christchurch, Dorset)

My father was a morse operator in the Royal Corps of Signals and was camped in the New Forest prior to the D-Day landings. He told us that they camped in the New Forest for some time but the weather was so bad they were sent up to Harwich and went over from there. If his Landing Craft had not broken down for a while he would have been one of the first on the beaches. He landed at Vers sur Mer.
